7 things to avoid right after eating

While there may seem to be no connection between eating and the consequences of certain actions, you can be sure that there are a number of mistakes that you should avoid making right after eating.

So, if you want to preserve your health and well-being, pay attention to these five things you should avoid right after eating.

Things to avoid right after eating

1. Training

You should not exercise right after eating. It would be better to exercise before or long after eating. Wait at least two hours. Doing abdominal exercises can cause hiccups and nausea, as well as injuries and cramps.

  • If this is the only time you have to exercise, it would be best to take a relaxing walk.

2. Smoking

Tobacco is never good for you, but it is much worse when you digest food. It is during this time that all the body’s systems work, so if you smoke during this period, the nicotine will be absorbed much faster. What are the consequences? This will increase the negative effects.

  • Furthermore, tobacco can block the absorption of important vitamins and minerals, such as calcium and vitamins C and D.

Avoid smoking for at least 20 minutes after eating.

3. Be careful when sleeping

To sleep right after you have eaten can be dangerous. And even if this habit does not lead to obesity, as was once thought, it can increase heartburn, and increase the risk of dying from a stroke. The solution is simple. Follow the recommendation of specialists who say that you should not sleep for at least two hours after eating a meal.

Take a bath or shower

Taking a bath or shower after eating is not recommended at all. This also applies to swimming. This is because when we bathe, the body temperature rises slowly, which means that the body has to send more blood than is usually necessary.

All this can affect the digestive process and slow down our digestion. The solution? Wait at least 30 minutes after eating before taking a bath and you will avoid these troublesome setbacks.

5. Drink tea

Drinking tea after eating is a common custom, but the truth is that it is not very healthy. We are talking about a drink that prevents the absorption of iron, something we must keep in mind, especially if we suffer from anemia.

If you have iron deficiency or if you are pregnant, it will be best for you not to drink tea for at least an hour after eating. If you must have a hot drink, it would be better to choose coffee, which will not cause these disorders.

6. Eat fruit

Although it may seem like the opposite, it is not very wise to eat a fruit after eating. This is because  digesting fruit is not always as easy as we might think. Many different enzymes are required to digest them.

Furthermore, the simple sugars found in fruit need time to be completely absorbed by the body. Since this is the case, it will be best to only eat fruit when your stomach is empty so that you can benefit from all the nutrients, fiber and simple sugars.

Remember that fruit mainly consists of fructose. This can be converted, much faster than we might think, to glucose. However, you can avoid this if you eat it properly. Look for the best time for your body to be able to completely absorb all the nutrients that the fruit provides you.

7. Keep an eye on your belt

If you tend to wear a belt, do not wear it too tight  after eating. This simple action can cause unwanted bowel problems.

Remember this, and it will be much better for your digestion and your well-being.
